Windows Optimization

When it comes to Windows, there’s a lot of changes needed for the system to be performing.

Windows offers a lot of different settings that can enhance your gaming experience. Some of the “enhancements” already made by Windows can actually hinder your game experience.

Xbox DVR and Game Mode

Let’s start out by taking a look at the default Windows settings. We need to look for something called Xbox DVR and Game Mode.

1) Right-click the Start Button.

2) Click Settings.

3) Click Gaming.

4) Click Game DVR in the left menu.

5) Click Switch right under “Record in the background when I’m playing a game” and leave it at Off.

Let’s disable the Xbox DVR now.

1) Right-click the Start Button.

2) Click Settings.

3) Click Gaming.

4) Click Game Bar.

5) Click on the switch below “Record game clips. Screenshots, and broadcast using Game Bar” so that it turns Off.

Windows automatic updates

Windows often spits out updates to keep their system up-to-date. However, it doesn’t always improve your gaming experience and that’s why you should disable automatic windows updates.

1) Press both the Windows Key + I.

2) Click Update and security.

3) Click Windows Update.

4) Click Advanced Options

5) Click Update Options

6) From here, disable “Automatically download updates, even over metered data connections (charges may apply)”. You can’t completely stop updates forever, but this will buy you some time and perhaps by the time, the updates will be thoroughly tested.

Power Plans

What often goes missing in many guides is something as simple as Power Plans. If you are the lucky owner of a PC, you’d think that Power Plans doesn’t matter since you always have power. But setting the right plan might boost your PC’s perfomance.

1) Press both the Windows Key + I

2) Type Power

3) Click Power and Sleep setttings

4) Click Additional Power settings

5) Choose “High Performance”

Changing your Power Plan is not a guaranteed fix and since this forces your PC to work at higher speeds, be aware of your PC components temperature(Doesn’t affect temperature in most cases).

Updating drivers

The most boring thing to do; finding the latest drivers, but it has to be done and impacts your gaming experience alot.

This section is more a reminder than a guide for you to update your drivers. Be sure that everything is up to date. We recommend you to use Device Manager to update your drivers or finding them manually on the internet. We DON’T recommend using third party software for downloading drivers(Driver Easy, Driver Booster, Drivers cloud), since multiple reports state that these softwares can harm your PC.

To update drivers with Device Manager, do the following;

1) Press Windows key + I

2) Search for Device Manager and choose it.

3) Select whatever device and right click.

4) Select Update Driver.

5) Select Search automatically for updated driver software.

More than often, Windows can’t find a new driver. Alternatively, try searching on the manufacturers website for new updates.
